Telehealth, or online therapy, can be a great option for people who need flexible, accessible mental health care. Busy professionals, parents, students, individuals with mobility or transportation limits, or anyone who prefers meeting from the comfort of their home benefits the most from online therapy! Anyone who is physically located in the state of North Carolina can be seen for online therapy services! At Willow Path Counseling, TherapyNotes, LLC is used for secure scheduling and video; it is HIPAA-compliant and designed to protect your privacy through encrypted communication and secure record storage so your information remains confidential.

Online therapy offers the same evidence-based practices as in-person work and can make it easier to fit regular sessions into your routine. Some challenges include occasional tech glitches and finding a private space for sessions, but most clients adapt quickly and if there are any challenges that arise such as this we handle them by rescheduling on switching to a different HIPAA-compliant platform called Spruce. These glitches happen rarely! One more aspect of online therapy to consider is if you are wanting to focus on somatic work. Somatic work can certainly be done through online therapy! In office, I would have more access to seeing if a response is happening from the neck/chest area below, however, with online therapy, we will still check in on this. I may not see bodily responses to what we are processing right away depending on the camera angle, and we will do check-ins because of this! With somatic work it is so important to keep in mind the awareness of what your body is telling you while processing, and it is just as important with both in-person and online therapy.
