Who we are

Hi, I’m Meghan!

Specialties: Anxiety, codependency, relationships, dating/breakups, attachment, processing childhood and teenage trauma as an adult, relationship trauma, and sexual trauma.

Since 2018 I’ve been focused on trauma work, especially how trauma and attachment wounds intersect. I’ve seen how attachment wounds shape the ways we relate to others through the patterns of behavior, the emotional reactions, and the ways we protect ourselves. Knowing how deeply these wounds may run helps me tailor therapy so it addresses both the painful memories and the ongoing relationship patterns that keep them active.

I draw on EMDR as a powerful evidenced-based approach to heal from trauma and repair attachment damage. I use brainspotting to help assist others to get into their bodies in a safe space, especially when we need to slow down our thoughts and increase mindfulness.

  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing): EMDR helps reprocess traumatic memories and reduces their emotional charge through eight stages. It combines guided bilateral stimulation with targeted memory work to help your brain integrate difficult experiences more adaptively. EMDR can be very effective for specific trauma memories or for more complex patterns tied to attachment wounds, helping reduce reactivity and create new, healthier responses. EMDR is a great process to also utilize methods to increase awareness of our body sensations and mindfulness, creating a somatic experience.

  • Brainspotting: This approach helps access and process emotional and somatic material by working with eye positions and the body’s felt experience. It can be especially useful when trauma or attachment pain is stored in the nervous system and words alone don’t reach it, and we need to slow down and have some space between our thoughts and behaviors. In sessions we’ll gently track where you notice sensations, emotions, or activation and use focused attention to process what’s underneath, often with less cognitive effort and more direct access to mindfulness and somatic healing.

My goal is to create a safe, collaborative space where we can explore both the memories and the relational patterns that keep you stuck. I tailor the use of EMDR, brainspotting, and other interventions to your needs and pace. Together we will move slowly when needed, and support you to develop safety, regulation, and stronger, more secure ways of relating. If you’re curious about either approach, we can talk through what a session might feel like and which tools might best support your healing.

Fun facts: I have always lived by the beach, most recently/the longest in Wilmington, NC. I moved to Hickory in 2024 and have been loving this fresh change of the foothills/mountain life! I love to read, and, if clinically appropriate, like to draw on books or characters that you are reading to possibly connect to your own life. I have a dog named Fenway, who you may see during telehealth sessions. A warm cup of coffee, tea, or hot chocolate is always encouraged during sessions!
